Plaster is the necrotic epidermis of the house. It is designed to conceal the anatomical truth of the structure beneath a layer of reassuring uniformity. It accumulates moisture and releases it in the form of saline efflorescence: the mineral sweat of the building. When it peels, it reveals not another surface, but its own disease.
